About Us – Westland Fruit Ltd
Westland Fruit Ltd was established in 2012 in Agrinio, Aitoloakarnania, by Mr. Emmanouil Archontakis and Mr. Nikolaos Glyniadakis, building on a successful business legacy in the trading and packaging of agricultural products dating back to 1989.
The journey began with the founding of Creta Star in Chania, Crete—a company that quickly gained a strong foothold in both domestic and European markets. In 2000, the founders co-established Olympia Star in Pyrgos, Peloponnese, focusing primarily on the export of citrus fruits. With a strategic vision and dedication to quality, Olympia Star developed a solid presence in markets across the Balkans and beyond.
After departing from Olympia Star in 2012, the two entrepreneurs launched Westland Fruit in Agrinio, a region distinguished by its rich agricultural heritage, abundant water resources, and temperate climate—ideal conditions for citrus cultivation. The company’s facilities span 5,500 square meters, including 450 square meters of modern cold storage infrastructure.
Westland Fruit specializes in premium citrus production, aligned with seasonal cycles:
Mandarins:
• Oronules & Clemenruby: These early varieties initiate the mandarin season from mid-to-late October.
• Clementines: Follow from early November through late December.
• Nova: Available from mid-December until the end of January.
• Afourer: A richly flavored, mid-late season variety harvested from mid-February to mid-April.
• Ortanique: Overlapping with Afourer, this robust variety runs from early February through March.
Oranges:
• Fukumoto: The earliest orange variety, harvested from mid-October, known for its bright color and sweet flavor.
• Navelines (Agrinio region): Picked from early November through January.
• Navel Washington (from Argos): A standout variety harvested from January, prized for its balanced sweetness and full-bodied aroma.
• Lane Late (from Mesolongi, Pyrgos, and Laconia): Harvested from mid-February to late April.
• Valencia (Skala, Laconia): The final variety in the orange season, lasting into early summer.
At the heart of Westland Fruit’s mission lies a commitment to delivering exceptional quality and expanding its reach into international markets.
